Political Thriller
Starring Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan
So this movie is classified as a political thriller, but to be honest, there wasn't anything particularly thrilling about it. This flick was very........very...........v...e...r...y... slow moving.
The story is about a writer who agrees to finish a ex-prime minister's memoirs that have already been partly written by another man who was mysteriously murdered days before finishing the book. If I hadn't had one large caffeine-infused Starbucks drink, I would have been passed out within the first 20 minutes of the film. This surprises me, because the director is the one and only Roman Polanski (known for academy award winning movies Chinatown and The Pianist).
Once the answers do start to reveal themselves during the last 10 minutes of the movie, you then watch it all come to a screeching halt when a main character is killed off suddenly. In the words of Tommy, "I was so happy when he died because that meant the movie was over." I rest my case.
Besides fleeing to France after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 13 year old, this movie is another reason why Roman Polanski should not be allowed back in the United States without being arrested.
Reel Recommendation: This movie will leave you saying, "Wow, that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back"
